Sun Medics is a full-service skin cancer clinic. We see patients from the first appointment for a skin check, and do our own imaging, diagnoses, treatment and follow-up all on site.
Our clinics undergoes regular, comprehensive audits and we are a DAA Group accredited facility for 'Office/Rooms Based Surgery and Procedures'.
Early detection of melanoma and other skin cancer is the most important aspect of its management.
The doctors and nurses at Sun Medics are trained in dermatoscopy (skin microscopy) and offer full body skin checks, spot assessments and mole mapping (total body photography).
We use dermatoscopy and the latest skin imaging software to thoroughly check your skin to identify any suspicious appearing moles or other lesions.
Skin spots are photographed and magnified onto a large screen, and can be tracked over time, allowing very early signs of melanoma and other skin cancers to be identified. Images are securely stored for future comparison and monitoring.
We provide on-the-spot feedback during your consultation. If a skin cancer is found you will be able to discuss the next steps and treatment options during your appointment.
Total Body Imaging (mole mapping) is a great way to accurately monitor all moles over the whole skin surface.
This is carried out by one of our trained nurses who takes images using a specialised light, camera and software which maps all moles over the skin surface and saves the mapped images for future comparison.
This helps us to detect any new or changing moles that could indicate an early melanoma - which is where we want to catch it.
Not all patients need Total Body Imaging and it does not replace a full skin check. It's more of a helpful tool for higher risk individuals (e.g. multiple moles or a previous melanoma) to help us identify and treat new melanomas early.
There are a number of effective non-surgical treatment options for sun damaged skin, precancerous lesions, or early skin cancers.
Depending on the specific lesion or area of concern, these may include preventative creams, cryotherapy, topical chemotherapy (e.g. efudix, imiquimod) and other creams.
Identifying and treating pre-cancerous skin spots before they become invasive is a big part of what we do. This reduces the chance of growing a much worse skin cancer that requires surgical excision. Prevention is better than a cure!
If surgery is required this is carried out at the clinic under local anaesthetic, making the procedure pain free and allowing you to return home comfortably afterwards.
All follow-up care (e.g. suture removal, dressings, pathology results discussion) is routinely provided.
Our trained nurses can also provide skin biopsies for appropriate lesions and follow-up care.
Minor skin surgery
Skin biopsies, mole removal, skin cancer excisions.
Advanced skin surgery
More complex procedures such as skin grafts or flap reconstruction of nearly all body areas including the face, nose, ears, scalp and lower legs.
Dr Agata Kesy provides skin treatments using K-Laser Blue Derma - innovative laser technology that utilises blue light to produce a precise surgical effect, reduce tissue damage and stimulate skin to heal.
Dr Kesy specialises in cosmetic lesion removal (moles, skin tags, seborrhoeic keratoses, sebaceous hyperplasia, angiomas) and offers pigmentation correction (age spots, sun pigment) in most skin types.
